History ::|:: Destiladora El Zacatecano, was founded in 1910 in Huitzila, Zacatecas by Aurelio Lamas Correa; in the Zacatecas state region where the Blue Tequilana Weber Agave grows. The company has maintained the traditions of its original founder. Huitzila, Zacatecas is a small town in Mexico; founded on June 13, 1537. Born at the same time of which Mexican culture was forming. Zacatecas is a land of a lot of good things and one of them is Mezcal. But in the the land of Mezcales, nestled in the Sierra Madre Occidental mountains in the town of Huitzila… El Zacatecano is the best! El Zacatecano, as the first distillery in the state, started as a small family operation, with an unwavering devotion to quality. The distillery now 98 years old, continues to maintain the same elaboration of its product. The distillery passed down a generation to Aurelio’s son Nicolas, now includes Aurelio’s youngest son, Ruben and Nicolas’s children. |
